So vile - going to get sick, aren’t I?

Utterly horrified.

DC was at soft play earlier. Needed the toilet. Inexplicably took socks off and ran off to the public (quite grotty unclean bathroom).

I had to grab the baby before I could chase, brandishing socks and shoes, but alas it was too late. DC already bare foot in public toilet stall with questionable wetness and stains on the floor. Managed to get the socks and shoes back on. Arrived home armed with plans to burn said socks and sanitise their little feet fully.

Totally forgot thanks to the usual chaos of family life.

So anyway, just been playing with DC pretending to eat their toes and I have LICKED THE SOLE OF THEIR FOOT!! A foot that has been in contact with a very dirty public bathroom floor at a germ-ridden soft play.

It’s inevitable. I’m doomed. Aren’t I?

Please someone share their stories of equally disgusting germ-ridden accidents so I don’t feel quite so stupid!

I would be just the same tbh but with my sane mind I am absolutely sure you will be ok. Unless someone has been ill on that floor then I can't imagine there would be anything there that would make you sick.

ComfyBoobs · 06/05/2024 15:30

Can’t tell if you are serious?

Either way, you’ll be fine.

GoldViper · 06/05/2024 15:30

🙄 you'll be fine stop being a drama queen.

quizzys · 06/05/2024 15:35

In enjoyed eating muck and critter laden earth as a child. Yum.

Your kid will be fine. Look on it as building up their immunity going forward.

quizzys · 06/05/2024 15:36

Oh it's YOU that could die of foot in mouth disease. You will also be fine!

Jegersur · 06/05/2024 15:37

Odd to just assume you’re going to be ill. That wouldn’t even occur to me. That’s what your body’s immune system is for - to fight off any bugs without you even knowing it.

Lurkingandlearning · 06/05/2024 15:56

If you put his socks back on him before you took him home most of whatever was on his feet would have rubbed off onto the inside of his socks anyway 🤔

Peonies12 · 06/05/2024 15:58

Weird to think that? Wouldn’t even cross my mind. It’s good to be exposed to germs

BarcardiWithGadaffia · 06/05/2024 15:58

Are you the same poster with the toilet dilemma?

curlupandvanishforever · 06/05/2024 16:01

@BarcardiWithGadaffia nope! Though now I’ll have to Google it.

@Lurkingandlearning I had wondered this!

Was just a light hearted thread! Probably need to add that caveat in the OP next time 😂😬

Don't worry, OP, it's mumsnet so snippy replies are par for the course. Think of them as building up your mn immunity in case you ever venture onto AIBU 😆

Your OP did make me feel rather queasy but I have recurring nightmares of dirty public toilet floors so......but I hope you will update in 24-72 hours 🤞

Sunnyday777 · 06/05/2024 16:25

🤢🤢 you’re doomed op. You’re going to be wondering about every stomach churn for the next 72 hours. Delightful germ ridden soft play. I was at a trampoline park when a child was sick in the carpeted cafe area. The parents sat at the table and carried on eating while the staff cleaned up. And the parents sent their child back to play! Luckily we were leaving (to thoroughly disinfect us all when we got home)

21andon · 06/05/2024 16:27

Aargh OP I am in a cold sweat imagining this. You will probably be completely fine. Probably.

Its nothing to do with being light-hearted, by a huge coincidence someone else has also posted an almost identical worry, whi knew a BH was so full of germs 😁

MuggleMe · 06/05/2024 16:39

I knew I was a fully fledged parent when I willingly put my hands out to catch child vomit because I didn't want it going all over the sofa/carpet. Ew!

VeraForever · 06/05/2024 17:37

At best, you'll be fine.

At worst, I hear that verrucas on the tongue are quite tricky! 🤣

Thequeenofwishfulthinking · 06/05/2024 17:41

I think soft play, trampoline parks , bounce places etc are most likely full of germs. The toilet floors are usually wet too. We always put clean socks on before we go home as feet are usually sweaty & wet. Just a thing I’ve always done for years.

Trulyme · 06/05/2024 19:10

D you normally lick feet? 🤢

I think you might be in the minority there and tbh deserve to get poorly!

I would hope that an area that has young kids is more sanitary than other places - trying to find some sort of silver lining.

If you don’t update the thread then we know why 😁
