I listened to this as an audio book back when I had spotify and I would like to listen to it again and can't remember what it's called. It's a short story set in horse and carriage times, the start of the story is a sherrif going to investigate a crime scene and his wife coming along in order to collect clothes to take to the acused, a wife who's now in the local jail. Another man is in the buggy so his wife comes along to be a chaperone for the sherrif's wife. The men go upstairs to the scene of the crime while these two women then quietly and gently, without saying it outright, work out from the clues about the state in which the muderer left her knitting basket and kitchen, why she murdered her husband. Does anyone recognise this????
