I've just been stung by a wasp while I was asleep

I'm terrified of wasps, and the horrible thing has just confirmed my opinion of its species as it snuck up and attacked me completely unprovoked Sad I woke up with a pain in my finger and heard buzzing, then about 10 minutes later it came back for another go. I was ready for it the second time and it's now imprisoned under a glass ready to be evicted far far away in the morning.
This is possibly even more outrageous than the cuttlefish that bit me while rockpooling a few years ago !

It is said,
'most wasps only sting when they or their nest are disturbed, or when they have been irritated by your presence'
As you clearly weren't disturbing their nest one must assume they you 'irritated by your presence'. Were you snoring? Thrashing about in bed? Are you wearing striped pyjamas and were seen as a threat?
Based on the cuttlefish episode it could be the animal kingdom just doesn't like you. Sorry.

I remember getting stung on the leg when just waking up, that was a rude awakening. Fecking wasps.

I too am frightened of wasps. The only good thing is you never knew it was coming. I got stung by one when I was moving some curtains (never knew it was there) and after a couple of hours the sting did not hurt any more. My children say I am ridiculous and my flapping around makes them worse. They are, of course, completely right. Still hate the buggers though, but have managed to contain myself from near hysteria to avoidance ! 😂

I seem to attract them. I must disturb them a lot. I once got stung by one vicious bastard on Christmas Eve as it was asleep in the Christmas stockings.
Last year one of the stripey fuckers got me twice on my leg. Itched for days.

Grin I strenuously deny all accusations of snoring and thrashing, and my nightie is boringly plain grey. I'm going with 'the animal kingdom hates me' !

Thankfully wasp stings don’t hurt that much on the British insect pain scale but I agree, cheeky bugger!!

I'm also guilty of flapping and probably winding them up more, under more normal wasp-meeting circumstances Blush
I've taken some ibuprofen and an antihistamine and I'm hoping it will stop hurting soon so I can go back to sleep (and probably have nightmares about vicious creatures ganging up on me Grin)

I once got stung by a dead wasp, which seemed very unfair.

That's even more rude than my nocturnal stealth attack

Vinegar and ice help with wasp stings!

Bollindger · 16/06/2024 08:58

There is supposed to be something about a message from the spirit world to do with things like this...
