Ozempic or similar - help needed

Hello,

I am 32 and have struggled with my weight since I was 18. I've always had trouble keeping my weight off. I've tried countless diets and superfoods but no luck or have quickly put the weight back on.

I don't have kids but would love to get pregnant next year. I struggle to walk 200 meters without having to catch my breath because of my weight and feel terrified of getting pregnant on top of my weight and not being able to look after my child.

I've been married for 5 years and to this day, don't feel comfortable getting undressed in front of him and prefer the lights off always. So it's really affecting my life.

I've contacted my doctors several times but my GP has been of no help.

I work as a clinician in a GP and feel so embarrassed telling patients to look after their health when I'm a size XL myself.

I desperately want to try Ozempic or similar and hopefully the money I spend on the injection will also be a boost to really watch what I eat to get the best results as I'm super frugal and all about saving money as we are saving up for a deposit for a house.

I am aware of the risks and happy to take the chance. Does anyone recommend a certain brand or type of these weight loss injections and have any tips? Is there anywhere you recommend buying from online to get the best and cheapest product?

Thank you xx

There are some threads in the weight loss section.
I've been on wegovy for 6 months, and doing well. But mounjaro has since been released and others are using that, similar drug.

It's a personal decision. Bear in mind that you'd likely need to stop the meds before trying to get pregnant (but talk to your provider)

They're not complete magic, but make doing what we all know we need to do 100 times easier

Thank you 😊

Do you mind me asking how much you weighted when you started and how much you weight now?

Have you had any bowel issues?

Thanks x

Hi OP, like PP says there's lots of help and support in the Weight Loss chat section.
I've been on Ozempic, then Wegovy for 13 months and have lost around 5 stone, 35% of my body weight and gone from a size 18/20 to 8/10, with no major side effects, but everyone is different. At 51 this has been life changing for me; a similar result to bariatric surgery but less risky.
It's a bit of an undertaking, a big financial investment and not without effort, but the appetite suppressing effect makes it bearable to be in a calorie deficit. I have learnt so much about nutrition and the complex factors behind over eating and I'm hoping to take that with me going forward.
Good luck to you.
