spanieleyes22 · 05/05/2024 19:37

Thanks where did you buy them. We are going to a wedding in Aug but it's in France so will be hot. Am wondering can I get something that would do for both

Linen shorts) trousers and a smart short sleeve shirt?? Can add a tie if required. My youngest wore a shirt, tie, waistcoat and bow tie to his prom ❤️

Mine wore a kilt (we're in England but he's half Scottish.).I've seen other national dress, suits, tuxedoes, all sorts.

Jeezitneverends · 05/05/2024 19:45

Suits, kilts or tartan trews here (Scotland

Mamofteenager · 05/05/2024 19:54

My son wore blue linen shorts, a white linen shirt and a navy blazer with white converse. Most boys at his school wore similar

Needingacoffee · 05/05/2024 19:59

My son is going to wear a black waistcoat, black trousers, a white long sleeved shirt, and a black bow tie. He also has black converse shoes to wear. (He might change to a white short sleeved shirt, but doesn't want to have a blazer). We got most of this from Next.

Milkydumplings · 05/05/2024 19:59

Shorts? Never seen that! My two wore a smart suit & tie. ASOS and Next are great for the skinny suits they seem to go for.

StripeySoc · 05/05/2024 20:10

Blue or grey suit, white shirt, brown brogue type shoes

Suit can be hired from Moss Bros

StripeySoc · 05/05/2024 20:11

Do not wear linen shirts unless he has an issue with getting overheated

sleekcat · 05/05/2024 20:13

Usually a suit. We got a deal from Moss Bros which was a good price and included a shirt and tie, although it wasn’t this year.

Bessica1970 · 05/05/2024 20:16

We’ve bought a suit from Moss Bros - quite expensive but he’ll also wear it for sixth form next year (formal business dress required for sixth form).

TheFormidableMrsC · 05/05/2024 20:19

It was extremely hot on the day of my son's prom. We went with navy chino shorts, a white shirt, navy tie, new white trainers. He was due to wear a suit and insisted on wearing the waistcoat and suit jacket over the top because he was so desperate to wear them but they lasted as long as the photos. Check out Vinted so you're not spending a ton, but I'd go for a similar look or chino trousers.

KeinLiebeslied54321 · 05/05/2024 20:21

Smart suit, shirt and tie. Decent shoes.
We're in Scotland so kilts often an option here too.

Tkmax are good for suits.

NedSchneebly · 05/05/2024 20:26

ASOS came up trumps for a suit for DS last year, with a nice Moss Bros shirt, and a waistcoat and matching bow tie from Amazon. ASOS suits have lots of different fits, so you can get one that suits your DS’s body shape.

CrochetMadRosie · 05/05/2024 20:27

We got DS a suit from
Next. I looked at hiring one, but it wasn't much more to buy one and he's actually worn it quite a few times over the past 2 years so it was worth it.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 05/05/2024 20:32

Ds1 had a navy suit, light blue shirt and tie from matalan and brown brogues from Slaters

ds2 wants to wear a tuxedo. Hiring doesn’t seem much cheaper than buying from somewhere like Next and they can always be sold on.

LlynTegid · 05/05/2024 20:42

Please choose something suitable to wear at both events. Your DS may have no clue about what to wear but I am sure he has a clue about climate change, low use clothing/fast fashion being one of the larger contributors.

LadyAroundTown · 05/05/2024 20:54

We’ve bought a navy blue suit with waistcoat from Next. He’s already got a long sleeved white shirt only worn once and will be borrowing a tie from his dad’s collection. Still need to buy shoes.

We looked at last year’s photos to get ideas first. Can you do that to see the norm for your school?

Timee · 05/05/2024 21:06

Suit, shirt and tie in both cases with new shoes.
If you know his exact size you should be able to get something nice on vinted? I've been trying to sell DS2s suit with no luck, it was pretty expensive and worn once. Looking on there there's loads of similar.
