Settle this ridiculous argument with between me and dd please

She said she’s not born at the start of a month for reference she is born on the 5th of a month so to me this is very near the start.

If we’re playing pedantry, I’d say she’s born near the start of the month, but not at the start of the month. I’d only use “at the start of the month” for the 1st or possibly the 2nd. No idea how others view it.
