This is a bit niche, but I'd love to hear from anyone who has been through this (or knows someone else who has).
I had surgery for cauda equina 6 weeks back, with a slightly atypical presentation. I'd had extremely bad sciatica throughout my pregnancy and following birth, I started experiencing bladder and bowel issues. Initially I thought it was post-partum issues but it was cauda equina with an atypical "gradual onset".
Post surgery, the weakness and pain in my legs is massively better, but I still have numbness/weird sensation in my "saddle area" and some pain at the bottom of my back. I am having physio and seeing a specialist bladder and bowel nurse, but I haven't really had much return of bladder and bowel function yet.
I guess I'm curious to know from anyone who has been through it, how recovery was for you, how long it took to experience significant improvements, and also how long you continued improving for post-surgery (if that makes sense)? I am trying to stay positive, but sometimes it is hard!
