How do you unwind on Friday night?

After week after week after week after week of stressful work life? Friday night feeling is not at all what it was 20 years ago.

By 5 pm on Friday I just look at the wall blankly, no mojo to socialise, exercise or cook or even to walk to the pub. Sometimes I cry to release the tension, even if nothing bad happened. I just want to get through the evening and do my yoga class at 8.30. Only then weekend begins.

How do you Fridays, is there a way to reclaim that night?
See you tomorrow, after yoga :-)

I'm 3 vodka lemonades in and I'm doing a jigsaw, however I'm not sure I'd call it unwinding because I'm having to do it on the floor because it doesn't fit on the table so my knees are killing me and I've been looking for a corner piece for the last 40 minutes, it's genuinely causing me more stress & pain than a work day at this point.

Normally I scroll through Tiktok or recipe websites until I fall asleep on the sofa but I'm trying this new thing of being productive so I do jigsaws, different painting by numbers sets that I bought for my kids but they've ignored, reading...etc. Or just watch a movie or whichever series I'm currently in to

Out for a meal most Friday nights then home and drink wine. Can't drink out because of driving.

@ILikePistachios I’m off to buy a jigsaw. I’m three beers in and quite fancy the idea of feeling mildly uncomfortable in my body and frustrated in my mind. Life affirming for a Friday night! Be present 😂

Mumsnet and chill, lol. I Mumsnet, then DH and I 'chill' later.

We watch old Top of the Pops on BBC4 and dance around. Started as a joke but it’s now stuck

Ohh that’s a good idea! We are in every Friday so might try this^
Atm the most popular unwinding technique is coffee and Baileys then a bit of TV and MN.
It was very busy week.

DH is on a night shift so we don't usually get proper 'weekends'. I ended up cleaning the house to try and restore some order after a hectic work week so I can try to enjoy the rest of the weekend.

I got the edges done, only took 5 hours and for the last 30 minutes DH helped because I was close to a breakdown. Only just got into bed as putting it away took an additional 40 minutes.

Now it's light nights after work, I make packup and go for a walk for a couple of hours. I find it helps switch my brain off from the working week.

The days of arranging to meet friends in town for drinks then clubbing are long gone. In an odd way I miss it but I'm glad I don't do it anymore.

DH and I usually have a nice decaf filter coffee, dessert and watch a film together. Or sometimes play card games or something instead.

Depends on how shattered I am after the week! Sometimes a swim, nice dinner and early night after some TV. Others a couple of glasses of wine with dinner.
When the evenings are light and warm a nice stroll with DH and my dogs. Last night for the first time in ages I actually went out to dinner and a comedian show with my best pal and its was brilliant, however I'm really tired today! I'm so old 🤣
