Strategic incompetence

I've always known it was an issue in husbands, but I've started to notice in in colleagues and friends too.

There are senior men at work who are clearly not useless, but aren't capable of performing any simple admin tasks. They play up how useless they are and the female staff flutter around them to do it for them.

More recently I've noticed in 2 men in my running club. Both run their own businesses that employ numerous people. These men are not stupid, but they need so much hand holding over being in the right place at the right time for events and again it's women who make sure they are.

I see it in my sons too. They have been raised to know how to do all domestic chores and wouldn't dream of trying it with me, but with their girlfriends, it's all "you're so much better at it than I am". Grrr. I really did try with them too.

Do these men realise what they're doing or does it just come naturally?
