Feeling down

today I woke up and just felt really low for no reason.
what do you do to put yourself in a better mood when you’re feeling down? I’ve been scrolling on forums all day and I think it’s just made feel worse. Have to pick my son up from school soon but I just want to go to bed and sleep the rest of the day away. I know it doesn’t last forever but hate feeling like I could cry at any minute for no reason.

Sometimes nothing at all like you say OP you woke up feeling down for no reason

Although, gently saying, I think scrolling all day is the worse thing you could have chosen to do. If it happens again I would go for a walk, if not out the house, read or watch girlie trash TV anything else basically.

Hopefully you son will put a smile back in your face have Friday film evening with popcorn that might help

Yeah you’re definitely right, I should have
done anything else other than scrolling my phone!

I bought some wine after the school run and I’m seeing a friend who’s coming to mine soon after she asked if she could come round last minute so hopefully that will help.

thank you

Hi,

Not much to suggest but empathy!

I've got a reason for low moods at the moment, which makes it easier...but not easier, if you follow!

I'm also a bugger for doom scrolling. Make me feel better short term, but a bit 'scrolling hungover' long term.

What helps is what you have suggested. I don't advocate alcohol to help, or I'd be a lush by now, but the situation you describe of putting the world back to rights with a friend and maybe some wine, is a good one!

Getting out and just moving your body helps too. If I'm really low, I'll walk to a shop that's half a mile away, but does a really good yogurt I like, so double win. (On a bad, bad day it's ice cream, specifically Magnum Billionaire caramel. So bite me.)

or I'll bugger off into nature for a bit, beach works best but forest or nearest countryside also good.

Talk to people.

I've had the biggest sodding glum hit me this afternoon, the usual reasons (bereavement in my case) and I'm going to have to take my own advice in a bit.

But first cup of tea! Fancy a brew?

I put on the most sweary, bolshy music I can find, through earphones so the neighbours don’t have to listen. The Sex Pistols feature heavily.
Potter in the garden.

Hope it passes soon.
