They’d be currently in Y9, starting Y10 and GCSEs in September after the summer holidays.

BusyCM · 03/05/2024 14:16

Yes currently year 9, starting year 10 in September. Will be oldest in the year group.

Needmorelego · 03/05/2024 14:16

@Puygo they would start working towards the GCSE exams from this September though when they go into Year 10.
It's actually really 5 months (from now) that the "Summer of 26" GCSEs begin.

SheilaFentiman · 03/05/2024 16:18

Be aware that some schools choose GCSEs in year 8 and begin working on them in year 9 rather than in year 10.

Puygo · 03/05/2024 16:22

Ok thanks. She already worked towards nat5s for the past year. So I think she basically goes back a year and goes over stuff she already done (not a bad thing)

Also, may be necessary if eg she has studied European history and the exam board she falls under does British history.

Does she know which GCSEs she would choose? Most schools like to see kids do at least one language and at least one humanity.

Puygo · 03/05/2024 16:35

Current school doesn’t insist on a language so that could be a problem
