My son’s PIP award has come through and he’s been awarded enhanced rate for daily living and standard rate for mobility until 2030
He was awarded 10 points for ‘cannot undertake any journey because it would cause overwhelming psychological distress’. Whilst this is true, I feel he also meets the criteria for 12 points ‘cannot follow the route of a familiar journey…’
Is it worth challenging this and fighting for enhanced rate mobility too or should I just be relieved he’s been awarded anything and not rock the boat?
He was also awarded zero points for reading and understanding signs, symbols, and words. I don’t understand how anyone can think that’s the case. It doesn’t make any difference to his overall claim, he was awarded 25 points for daily living in total, but it’s the principle!
Again though probably not worth challenging? Wasn’t sure, incase it impacts on future PIP reviews or other decisions such as whether or not he’d be expected to look for work in the future if he needed to claim ESA.
