Would you consider this a balanced load of washing?

It’s an 8kg capacity washing machine 1 double duvet cover
1 pillow case
1 bath towel (smaller size than a bath sheet)
3 pairs of pants.

i rang up to report a fault and was asked if I do balanced loads. Not really sure if the above is balanced or not. Thanks

You need a lot more than that in with a duvet cover or else it ends as one big lump that can't balance. Today, on a half load, I did a double and king duvet cover, 4 pillowcases, a pair of thick jammie bottoms, a few t-shirts and assorted knickers. It's a bulky load when dry but not heavy.

The whole point of a balanced load is that the weight can distribute around the drum. You also need to close the fastenings on the duvet covers so they don't swallow everything.

That balancing article is bonkers.

If. It's always tangling your stuff then it probably is a problem with the machine.

And it will be even more without the concrete weight!

We have a 2 metre ceiling mounted dryer with 6 rails. I fill it up each wash, I couldn't begin to itemise what was in each wash!

I do 2 King size duvet covers, 2 double fitted sheets, 1 flat sheet & 8 pillow cases in a 9kg washer. Never had a problem & my washer has a sensor for if the machine is overloaded.

This is enlightening. I literally fill my machine to capacity.

I'd say that's too much, I'd reckon to include the duvet cover or the towel, not both.

I put more than that in regularly and no issues with my machine.

Not sure if it is the same for your machine OP, but mine (Bosch) can get into a loop of trying to shuffle an unbalanced load, then attempting to spin, detecting an imbalance, shuffling, attempting a spin, shuffle and repeat, and this makes the program take longer until it successfully rebalances and completes a full spin or gives up.
