New job - he didn't say congratulations

Been with boyfriend 6 months. I got a job offer last week and accepted it today - told my boyfriend in a message. He 'liked' the message but didn't say anything about it specifically in his reply beyond 'Seems like the right choice for you'.

Family and friends have been all about the congratulations chat!

Now to be fair to my boyfriend, he has helped me chat through the job offer and he's good at that, really logical and weighing everything up. It's a better role and more money.

He said congrats for something smaller last week, so it seems a bit weird! It's a big deal to me. Would you just let it go as he's supportive generally?

Erm, I'd let it go..

@OhHelloMiss it's just annoyed me as he got a new job last month and I've been the hype woman.

How hard is a congrats, I'm pleased for you?

His response is much more thoughtful and less generic than “congratulations”. Honestly, you sound like hard work.

Congratulations is just a word. He hasn’t ignored that you’ve got a new job, he’s recognised it by saying “Seems like the right choice for you” and is pleased for you. I wouldn’t make a big deal out of him omitting one particular word.

Him liking your message, agreeing it's a good fit, and talking through the offer are ways of supporting/congratulating you IMO.
