DP swollen painful testicle

Regular but name changed due to sensitive nature.

DP has had quite a bit of pain in his groin and under his testicles, one of his testicles is swollen and there seems to be a large thick vein running through it.

He did have an op on this testicle when he was about 10 (now 28) and hasn't had problems since.

Not sure if related but he's also peeing loads more than usual and unable to wait when he needs to go, he had some antibiotics a week or so ago as we thought he had a water infection (test came back clear but was given as a precaution for frequent urination, cloudy pee and pain in bladder/kidneys)

We're moving and currently between houses so he is unable to register at a Dr.

Does anyone know what this might be or if it's an A&E job or if we're okay waiting until next week when he can get registered?

Go to A&E, it could be twisted.

A&E asap. It could be a testicular torsion and he could end up losing the testicle if he just leaves it.

Another vote for either 111 or A and E.

Epididymo- orchitis? I wouldn’t wait to register with a gp. Minor injuries unit or if you don’t have one, A and E.

I agree with the others. He must get it checked quickly in case it's a torsion.

Right decision to go to A+E. It could either be torsion (true urological emergency) as others have said, or could be an infection and need antibiotics, sooner the better. I’m glad he didn’t wait till next week.

Back from A&E, DP is very grateful you all convinced him to go. Thankfully not a torsion but epididymo- orchitis (well done @Baileyqueen !) he has some strong painkillers and a course of antibiotics to clear it up.

Dr said a torsion on that testicle would be almost impossible due to the op that DP had when he was 10 so he is now proudly calling it a 'magic ball'
