I am always with Prime for lots of different reasons, but even that has been boring for the past year. Other than that I'm a bit stumped atm.

What I like: What they might usually call 'cerebral' stuff, British mystery, supernatural or intelligent detective drama, folk horror (uk), world cinema and tv (aka BFI type stuff), subtitles, Japan, German, etc. I like well written sci fi and a lot of the older stuff on BBC.

What I don't like: Violence if it's graphic or pointless, any kind of injured or hurt animals, bland binge stuff that hooks you like a drug and wears you out (lol), blockbusters, jump scares, action movies or soaps. Not a massive fan of romance either.

So, I used to love Netflix for the wide cultural themes and European drama, but it started to recommend a lot of stuff that contained extreme violence or animal torture. Otherwise great stuff but a bit excessive. This included Scandi drama that I always used to adore, the most recent one I watched about a group of supernatural children involved them torturing a cat - I wish they would put spoilers on for that kind of content, it's awful.

Recently dumped ITVX as too bland, apart form the odd bit it all reminded me of a variation on Emmerdale Grin, just not my particular vibe at all.

Last time I saw anything that I liked was an excellent spooky German movie on Amazon about a futuristic 'smart house', a few Japanese films and an couple of things with Joanne Froggat.

Any tips??
