Netflix Basic Package Cut

Anyone else had an email saying Netflix are getting rid of their basic package and you will be moved to the next package costing £10.99 per month?
Are you going to continue with it? I think I will cancel.

I had no idea there were packages. Does that mean some people can watch more than others?

NoisySnail · 29/04/2024 23:27

No, the basic package means you can only watch it on one device.

I moved down to the one with adverts. It’s cheaper and two people can watch on different devices at the same time.

Honestly, you wouldn’t even know there was adverts. I’ve been watching HTGAWM and haven’t had one advert. When I watched Baby Reindeer, there were maybe two adverts in each episode. All adverts were 10 seconds so I didn’t mind at all.

Only thing about the cheapest option is you can’t have Netflix in ‘picture in picture’ mode. That annoys me but other than that, it’s worth the cheaper price. No dip in quality either. No way could I pay £11

Had that email today. I will continue with it.

My email said basic package being cut and I'm being moved to the cheaper plan with adverts - so going from £7.99 to £4.99.
I went and had a look to see if I could move to the £4.99 package now but it wouldn't let me make any changes.
I'm going to see how I find the adverts, and if they annoy me too much I'll probably just cancel it.

I got the same as @Chasingsquirrels, moving me to the £4.99 package. Happy with that I think, I don’t watch that much on there apart from the occasional film/series. Will wait and see how bad the ads are though!

Chasingsquirrels · 29/04/2024 23:49

Logged in via desktop mode rather than the app and had the choice to change plan that way.

Can you switch to the £4.99 ads package for a month only and then switch back if you're not happy?

You can’t switch back because it’s going to be discontinued. Unless you mean try out the cheapest option and if the OP doesn’t like that, then switch to the £10.99 one

Just checked, I can. No idea why mine is set to automatically go to the more expensive plan.
Might just cancel anyway.
