I swear, sex doesn’t agree with me.

As the title says.

I had sex on Saturday after not doing anything for a year and I woke up Sunday with cystitis and just feeling sore down there.

I’ve put the soreness down to not having had it for a while, but I hate getting cystitis. I’ve got a course of antibiotics for 3 days and hopefully it’ll clear up.

I’m gunna try D-mannose as I’ve seen that recommended and another few years of no sex. 😏

Did you do a wee straight after ?

Whatsitcalled38 · 29/04/2024 20:37

Did you use lube? Pee before and after? I went through a period of constantly having something wrong with my vagina, switched to yes lube I think it is. And it's stopped.

Anewuser · 29/04/2024 20:40

Used to be known as the honeymoon disease.

It’ll probably be due to friction and not weeing afterwards.

SeeiToldYa · 29/04/2024 20:41

@Whatsitcalled38 @mycatsanutter no, I didn’t wee after, so I know in that instance, i only have myself to blame. And we didn’t use lube either. 🤦🏻‍♀️

@Anewuser its been such a long time since I’ve had it, especially like this. I normally get niggles, but never full blown cystitis. 🤨

Hi @SeeiToldYa
Can I ask if you are perimenopausal or menopausal? It could be that if you have decreasing oestrogen levels, this leads to the symptoms that you describe. Might be worth considering it if you are in that age range. (Vaginal oestrogen cream is very effective, if so).
I hope it soon settles for you.

AllTheMiniEggs · 29/04/2024 21:20

I'm used to get it every time I had sex. I had to take an antibiotic afterwards every time in the end.

I'm single now. Much easier.

I feel for you. It's horrible. A hot water bottle really helps.

SeeiToldYa · 29/04/2024 21:25

@Joyfulincolour I’m 34, so a few years off. 😁

Poor you. 😭

SilverShadowNight · 29/04/2024 21:27

Wee before, use lube, wee after.

And if that doesn't sort it you can get an antibiotic to take afterwards to prevent it, in addition to the steps above.

SeeiToldYa · 29/04/2024 21:29

@AllTheMiniEggs I’m heading towards celibacy. 🤣 it’s awful.

aww, I’m so sorry that happened. We really get the short straw.

Pee before and after always.

It's the only way. 😉

Whatsitcalled38 · 30/04/2024 07:50

Definitely get yourself some good vagina safe lube (most cheap lubes containers ingredients that essentially feed infections) and always pee before and after.

Hope it clears up soon and doesn't put you off too much!

spuddy4 · 30/04/2024 09:11

I used to get the same symptoms as you OP but I read on here about d-mannose and tried some from Holland & Barrett and haven't had any problems since!

SeeiToldYa · 02/05/2024 14:58

I’ve just ordered some D-mannose. I just feel niggly. It’s so annoying. 😶

When I was married I had urine infections all of the time because my exH was a pig who didn't wash his hands properly or his dick.
Since getting divorced I haven't had a single infection.

Pee before and after always.

It's the only way. 😉

Or find a weirdo like one I did on OLD who wants you to pee during. Binned I should add.

SeeiToldYa · 02/05/2024 15:24

@Blackcats7 haha. I’ve had someone ask that. Not a chance..

@Gettingbysomehow the person I slept with has an allotment, had visited it that day and I’m wondering if maybe this could have played a part. But he will have defo showered prior.

I’ve slept with him 3 times prior and didn’t feel like this on those occasions. 🤷🏻‍♀️
