I know there have been threads on the subject before, but this site is honestly ridiculous sometimes.
Some people really do go out of their way to pick at every little thing you've said and make you out to be some sort of nutcase.

Someone you liked breaks up with you/turns you down. Sometimes we ruminate a bit, it happens. On here it's literally 'stop harassing the poor man!! Just move on! Leave him alone!!' when there's zero suggestion you have done anything of the sort, except for feel a bit down about it. Apparently if you haven't moved on within 3 seconds of being rejected there's something seriously wrong with you.

If you even dare to suggest a man is attracted to you, you get told you're likely wrong, as if they know the man personally and know exactly what's going on in their mind.

Honestly.. anyone else feel like this? People don't seem to realise you can be constructive whilst still being tactful.

Also if you post anything that bears even a slight resemblance to previous post then it must be you posting under another alias, it's simply impossible that two people have had fairly similar situations, it's clearly the same poster every single time.

There are two types of Mumsnetters:

  1. Those who have perfect lives, husbands, children, mother in laws, houses and jobs.

  2. Those who don’t lie about perfect lives, husbands, children, mother in laws, houses and jobs.

You’re on a giant, anonymous site with a long history of trolling and sock puppetry. think it’s a bit rich to expect any particular patience or tact. You get that from your friends. Here is more a brisk ‘No, Frank from Accounts probably isn’t in love with you because he once gave you an ‘intense look’ across the cafeteria’ or ‘Yes, the guy who shows up at your house after dark for a quickie with a white stripe on his ring finger and saying work is too busy for him to be able to see you in public, ever, is definitely married.’

ringoffiire · 29/04/2024 17:02

Yes I agree with you, there's often not a lot of nuance on here.

But then honestly if you don't like the site then there's a little X button in the top of your browser.

Are you usually this belligerent OP 🤔

🤪 kidding obviously.

vodkaredbullgirl · 29/04/2024 17:54

There are three types of Mumsnetter:

3 - the ones who point out that it is mothers in law, not mother in laws.

Sorry, couldn't resist. 😉😂😂

You know what? I typed that first because it sounded right but it didn’t look right 😂

There is more than one mother not more than one law, that's how you know which way it is, but I know what you mean - it doesn't look right, does it?

Makes total sense. I couldn’t be arsed with the hyphens, though. That was just pure laziness 😂

What is sock puppetry?

FourSteeples · 29/04/2024 18:33

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sock_puppet_account

For the purposes of here, likely to be previously banned posters starting new accounts from new email addresses, or arriving on threads under different usernames to support their own POV, though more difficult now that you can’t change username midway through a thread.

Blimey, that’s depressing

SpringerFall · 29/04/2024 18:38

'I walked past a man and he looked at me does he fancy me?'
'Yes totally he wants you badly'

Honestly does this really help? So people just want to be agreed with?

freetea · 29/04/2024 19:05

Most of the threads on MN are bullshite over exaggerated and lies.

Hyphens are a whole different kettle of fish. Worse than apostrophes!
