Krakow, Prague or Amsterdam in May?

DH and I in our mid 20s.

We are looking at booking a city break for next month, 2 nights/3 days. Either Krakow, Prague or Amsterdam. Squeezing a trip in before baby if we can!

We like

  • Good food
  • Plenty to do
  • Not too expensive

Things to bear in mind is that I’ll be in the second trimester and I follow a vegan diet, so some countries can be difficult finding places for both I and DH to eat.

We’ve been to Rome and Berlin previously and loved both of those.

Thanks in advance!

Prague!

Watch Michael Portillo’s “Long weekend in Prague” on My5 (catch up.)

That programme will introduced you to the never ending joys of Prague.
We love it.

Krakow!

Prague is waaaaayyyy too touristy now, sadly. You can't get across and enjoy the bridge unless you're prepared to go at like 5am. It's not in the slightest bit relaxing.

Amsterdam - May's the time of year you get the spring breakers from the US and all the UK tourists wanting to party and smoke up - plus ridiculously expensive.

Krakow - inexpensive, picturesque, lovely people, awash with history. Do it!!

Krakow is my favourite holiday destination so far and has everything you want. It’s gorgeous, the weather will be nice, there’s lots to do and it’s very affordable. I love it. Feel free to PM if you decide to go and want some recommendations 😂

Prague for sure. There are a number of very good vegan places that I could to you if it helps.

That would be great! Thank you. Are there any that also do meat/veggie options as well as vegan food?

I haven't been to Prague and it's years since I went to Amsterdam- I loved krakow for a short break would highly recommend. Caveat that I'm not sure what it would be like for a vegan.

I love krakow and prague

Soulstirring · 29/04/2024 18:06

Not been to Prague but absolutely love krakow. Spent 3 nights and could easily go for another 4/5 to see the place. Very reasonably priced.

We went to Prague last month and ate so well as vegans!
