Question for Londoners

We are wanting to take the kids to London during the summer hols. We‘ll be driving down from the NW and also visiting friends in Bristol so would rather be based on the west. Rather than staying in the city we thought we might get an Air BnB or hotel on the outskirts so that parking is cheaper/free and accommodation is cheaper but we can still travel in for the day (don’t mind using overground or tube). Ideally somewhere with a bit of green space/a nice neighbourhood.
Where would people recommend on the M4 corridor that might fit the bill? Thanks!

I'd suggest somewhere on overground or Elizabeth line. Possibly Ealing/Acton or further out.

You may find answers to similar queries on the UK travel board.

Anywhere on the Elizabeth line.

Reading I spose..

Or Richmond / Kew is both lovely and Green

The Premier Inn at Perivale might be a good option, it’s on the A40. Parking free, at the hotel and surrounding roads. Footbridge over the A40 to Perivale tube on the central line.
A40 westwards and join the M4 towards Bristol

Reading, but the cost of the train fare might break your soul

How far out do you mean? Chiswick/Turnham Green is nice, decent local high street and cafes etc and very close to the M4 junction, Hammersmith (less green), Fulham, Barnes (only on train not tube so cd be tricky if a strike) and Putney/Richmond (very green, good transport links) also good. And agree about Ealing. I'd have a look on google maps and triangulate M4 for Bristol/parks and green spaces/tube stations etc.

Try Airbnb for sw14 area, lots of permit free parking and close to Richmond park and the river and easy into central.

Theres a premier inn and maybe an ibis styles/travellodge in Ealing... Close to lizzy line and parks and decent pizza /food options.. i would stay there rather than perivale... Which is better for roads and possibly cheaper but not as handy ..
Or in Brentford which is nearer kew and m4 and train to Waterloo for Southbank. But not as frequent as lizzy line ..really good pubs/Italian there don't know others nr thames
Travel lots cheaper if ur in London zones

Just remembered there is a Premier Inn on Putney Bridge. Very busy road but a nice park just over the other side running along the river, tube, buses right outside, and train station and river bus. Decent high street, loads of things for kids as very family-oriented area. Good for M4.
