Building confidence

How do I go about building my confidence?

It's something I've always struggled with.

In what way do you think it needs building?

In all social situations, or in a professional context, or just in a "believing in your own abilities way".

Why do you think you struggle with it?

I listened to a good podcast on this 'Why you don't have confidence and how to build it' by Mindset Mentor. It was really simple and easy to follow, basically you get confidence and build trust in yourself by doing things. I have been trying to improve my life recently and can vouch for just taking action. It doesn't have to be perfect, but tiny steps in the right direction will soon start to pay off.

Social situations, particularly large scale e.g. weddings. Speaking in work meetings. I'm being held back in my career because I don't put myself forward for stuff that needs a lot of speaking in meetings (most stuff higher up does in my org). I know I am more than capable but all the people higher up seems sparky, highly intelligent or whitty.

I'm a quiet hard worker, perceptive and clever but I only really stand out for my hard work.

I don't know why it happens but I just lack confidence.

In terms of the work stuff, this is me too. Any advice gratefully received!
