Spain in Oct? What can I expect weather wise?

Have a holiday booked in Spain for end of Oct as only time we could all get off, weather wise, what are we looking at? I’m not expecting it to be hot hot, but some nice sunny, warmish days would be nice, like beach weather? Of course the weather is totally unpredictable but those of you that have been to Spain around that time of year how have you found it?

We went to Southern Spain once in October. It was glorious, very warm and sunny. The pool wasn't heated though and we barely went in.

Spain is a big country, which part?

DolceGustoooohCoffee · 28/04/2024 12:46

Spain is a large country and the weather varies hugely between say Murcia and Santander. There's also websites that will give you a temperature average of each month. I've done Alicante as an example as it's a popular holiday destination however you just type in wherever you're going into the search bar.

We often go to Malaga in mid October and have had a mix of sunny, warm weather and some days of rain. The sunny days are lovely, usually about 22-24 and comfortable and have been able to wear shorts in the evening. It’s a nice time to go to get a last bit of warmth before the winter, if you get the good weather that is.

Floofydawg · 28/04/2024 14:10

I wouldn't go that far north in Spain at the end of October, personally. It would be hit and miss as to whether you got sunshine and heat.

fussychica · 28/04/2024 15:15

Half term week is very hit and miss. We're usually there right through October and into November but in the hottest corner, Almeria. If you get a good week it could easily be mid 20s. I've usually stopped swimming by mid October in an unheated pool as the nights have cooled considerably however good the days are, so the pool gets cold.
Have a great holiday.

Pingtotheeastwoodly · 28/04/2024 15:18

That time of year you can expect low 20s with some rain. When it rains in Spain, boy does it rain.

HolidayBurden · 28/04/2024 22:37

It's variable @seeyouyesterday. I've been a few times - evenings you need jumpers / cardigans etc, you can be lucky in the day with it being warm enough for the beach etc; equally it can be very wet. Very much pot luck. Prepare for some wet days and hope for the best. There's plenty to do.

CheerfulBunny · 28/04/2024 22:48

We went to Andalucia last minute in October last year and it was 32 degrees most days - we were delighted! Windy though, but I think it always is there because it's the Atlantic coast.

pinkmags · 28/04/2024 22:50

After September the weather around the Med becomes much more variable and rainy. As others have said, pot luck!

Neverthetwainshall · 28/04/2024 22:51

Can be hugely variable, I lived there in 2000 /01 the weather was atrocious in the winter, however have been there before and since and it's been ok
