Please tell me about your boiler

Argh! Mines just died. It's 15 years old so I can't complain really.

I know NOTHING about them. Which are good? What to look out for? What to avoid?

Have a Vaillant atm, which my DM has actually recently had installed and has had loads of issues, she's warned me to steer clear. Seems like it's a minefield.

I had a vaillant eco something for 15 years. Really good for the first 14.

I replaced it with a Baxi, as it was cheaper. It's OK. Just takes a few seconds longer for the shower to heat up. Winter mornings I'd like a vaillant with the quicker heat up time, but I'll live😁

What was the KW rating of the old boiler? Was it powerful enough to keep the house warm? If so, that tells you what size you need.

Choose between the type that heats water as you use it, and the type that heats the water in the hot tank.

Then get a quote for a Worcester Bosch, an Ideal and a Vaillant, and see how the quotes go.

Got an ATAG now after searching for what heating engineers install on forums.

Had Ideal, which is known to be fairly simple and easy to repair. None of them last as long as older boilers did, I'm always changing them with work, so know!
