Quick one!
My sons bday is in 2 weeks. We've just moved counties this week and he started a new nursery. I want have a party for him but I'm concerned none of the nursery parents/ kids will turn up at such short notice. I've not met any of them yet at pick up. Would you bother having a party?

No, not at Nursery age. but that's because I wouldn't (didn't) have a party for the children my dc went to Nursery with. At that age, I'd just do something with family.

I mean, if the dc were older, then I wouldn't 'not take' my dc to a party because I only had 2 weeks notice - if we were free, then I'd go.

But, if you've literally just started there, then you could have a party in 2 months time if that made you happier about it. It doesn't really matter, and your dc won't know any different, and nor would the people invited. If anyone did ask, you have the very good reason of them not having started at Nursery in time to have arranged a party for the actual day - no-one would be bothered.

i would either do one in about six weeks or just leave it until next year. Your dc won’t know any better but equally I’m sure they’d enjoy it in the moment if they were running around at a party with some other children so worth doing this year or next if you want to.

I thought it would be a good opportunity to meet the parents seeing as weve just moved here

I think yes. My DD has just been to a party for a new nursery friend who's been there about 3 weeks. We had ten days notice so I expect some people couldn't come but there were quite a few

I'll have the same predicament when DD starts school and has her birthday 5 days later!

Nursery parties are definitely a thing where I am, and we’d go if we were free with two weeks notice.

I’d mention that on the invitation. Just say you’ve recently moved and it seems as good a reason as any for a get together!

Thanks guys! We've decided to do it a couple weeks after his birthday to give us a bit of prep time. Have a lovely evening everyone 😊
