Help me spend a £700 gift card

To cut a long story short, I find myself in possession (legally!) of a £700 Argos gift card. I believe I can spend it in Argos, Sainsbury's or Habitat.

I'd like to use it to buy something for myself - not necessarily something for my home unless it could be considered a treat/indulgence. I can't think of something to use it for and I don't want to use it for several small things - I'd rather spend it on one big thing.

I don't need it to buy food, before anyone asks.

Sorry if this post offends anyone but I have this voucher and would like to spend it on myself (no kids so I'm not depriving them of anything).

Any suggestions?

Couldn't you spend it on Sainsbury groceries this month & then just transfer £700 you'd have normally spent on that and spend it on whatever you want, from anywhere? Then you aren't so restricted with where to buy from.

This post is literally the most logical and sensible option. So another vote for this! ☺️

You can buy vouchers for other places with the Argos vouchers. So you could buy Jet2 vouchers and have a holiday or buy ASOS vouchers for clothes.

Garden furniture and/or a good gas barbecue

@WelshNerd or buy clothes from Sainsbury's if she wanted clothes.

If it’s an Argos gift card, it cannot be spent in Sainsburys

I'd do this. Especially as Sainsbury's is my local supermarket

Although id consider getting a Dyson air wrap or something as well

@Mausbajiiw you can buy TU clothes on the Argos website.

I know that but others are suggesting to use it for groceries, and usually Argos gift cards wouldn’t be accepted in Sainsburys

Needmorelego · 01/05/2024 14:04

@Mausbajiiw ah yes..... valid point 🙂

What would you LIKE?

steppemum · 01/05/2024 15:20

The things I'd like for me are things which are relatively expensive and we would never buy from normal money. For me these would be:

jewellry, I love unusual stuff and could easily buy a few itmes at £150 each
garden sofa
piece of real art maybe even commisioned by me

but none of these come fomr Habitat/Argos etc

Yep ditto using it for shopping. I'd put the money towards a lovely Mulberry bag 🥰

THanks everyone for the suggestions and sorry I disappeared - work got a touch busy. I'm not keen on shopping in Sainsbury's because it's so expensive I wouldn't get as much as I usually get for my food shopping money. I enjoying a range of crafts so maybe I could buy stuff related to that? Also, I'd like a hanging chair, an outdoor one. I'm just not sure whether the Argos/Habitat ones are good quality or whether they'd crumble after a couple of years. Any idea?
