Yes! I bet you're the same age as me.
Pan's Labyrinth is one I don't think anyone has said.
Oh and Labyrinth with David Bowie.
Plus Dirty Dancing of course!
Not three films that necessarily go together....

I can’t believe I forgot Pan’s Labyrinth!

Cattenberg · 27/04/2024 21:55

Pan’s Labyrinth is very good, but very harrowing.

Also, why did Ofelia eat the grapes despite being warned not to? That bugs me more than it should!

Casablanca - when I finally got round to watching it I thought it was brilliant. Also Ice Cold in Alex.

MarjorieDanvers · 27/04/2024 22:42

There are so many great films! Some already mentioned but would also add:

Rashomon (although anything by Kurusawa)
In the Mood for Love
Wild Tales
M
Pulp Fiction
Gorky Park (my wild card!)

HarryPottersScar · 27/04/2024 22:45

Shawshank
Gladiator
Cape Fear (DeNiro one)

SummerHouse · 27/04/2024 22:51

Magnolia

I went to the cinema to see it. I was spellbound from the start to the finish. It was weird but a fair few people walked out. I will never understand that. It is long but utterly gripping.

SummerHouse · 27/04/2024 22:53

Also Shawshank - it's a timeless masterpiece. I watched it again recently and it just confirmed this. I think it's the best film ever made.

Cinema Paridiso, it’s so beautiful. I think it’s a movie anyone who watches will just love even if initially they don’t think it’s their thing.

Agree.

I would add The Breakfast Club, Schindler’s List, Donnie Darko, Kramer vs Kramer
