Where to go - dog friendly hols UK

We are just getting round to thinking about summer hols. Want to do somewhere where we can take the dog, not too far south (driving from Scotland), near a biggish town or city, near coast would be good. Went to York a few years ago and it was great. Where would you suggest??

Depends on your dog and what you want to do.
A dog unused to city noise might be scared. Mine definitely wouldn’t understand walking along crowded pavements and York gets very crowded.
How about the Lakes? Very dog friendly and lots of open spaces.
Peak District.
North Wales.

Dog is OK in town/city but countryside with access to same would be better. Any suggestions for where in peak district\ lakes? I'm not into hiking!

In England - suggest Northumberland/Lincs/Norfolk as lots of Dog friendly beaches even in the summer months.
