Changing hairdresser

I've been going to the salon for several years, with the same hairdresser. We're both in our 50s. Last time my appointment was with a different hairdresser in the same salon, and she did a much better job with the cut, she seemed to get what I wanted (and had badly explained).
I'd like to change over to her in the future. How can I go about this without upsetting my usual hairdresser? I know it's fine in theory but I'll feel awkward about it.

You are the customer and it’s your choice. Just say hello when you go in and perhaps say you are having a change, but you don’t have to explain. Does your previous hairdresser have a day off when you could go in without her knowing?
