I hit 70 in January, so at the end of October - 90 days before my birthday - I got a message from the DVLA telling me to renew my driving licence. I did it on-line that day. However, I had to answer "yes" to one of the medical questions. Fast forward a couple of weeks, I received a medical questionnaire in the post, which, again, I filled in and returned promptly.
I know my GP then received a questionnaire to complete, which they did (eventually) and returned it to the DVLA, which clearly says there is no medical reason why I should not drive/I'm fully fit etc. The DVLA have had this back for three months now, but still no licence. I'm currently driving under Section 88 rules, but would much prefer to be properly legal.
So - anyone know what the heck is going on at the DVLA? Does it really take three months or more to process a simple application? And has anyone had a similar experience to give me some confidence that this will be sorted out at some point?
