My handwriting is awful. Is it possible to improve it?

I have crappy handwriting. Is there any way to massively improve it or is it just that some people have beautiful handwriting and other people's look like a spider's walked across anything they are writing? It really hacks me off as I am very neat and tidy in other ways and it just looks so unprofessional.

Would be interested in hearing from anyone who has really improved how they write as an adult.

One person I know took a calligraphy course and transformed her handwriting. Handwriting can definitely be improved.

I find that the pen makes a difference for me. Something like a gel pen or rollerball or fountain pen where you don’t need much downward pressure makes my writing look much better. I generally prefer fountain pens but if the paper is cheap, it bleeds through, so I usually go for gel pens at work.
