How tight are your engagement/wedding rings?

My wedding ring is a very comfortable fit. I’ve just had my engagement ring resized as I haven’t worn it for several years due to it being too small. It still feels small to me although it is now the size I asked for. It is comfortable but definitely firmly in place if you know what I mean! It would be hard to get off if my finger got even a tiny bit fatter.

i do have super awkward hands - my fingers are so short that wearing 2 rings takes up most of the space to my knuckle.

Just curious to know if people generally feel that their rings are loose, tight or just right!

I no longer wear mine. It makes me feel quite claustrophobic if a ring is too tight. I need to be able to take it off straight away, not ease it off with soap or cream or whatever. That means I tend to wear rings a couple of sizes too big, which comes with the risk of losing them if they slip off.

They're too loose now after losing a lot of weight ,nice problem to have. I hate right rings though,I really dislike seeing rings that are clearly too small, they look so uncomfortable.

I am similar really, it does make me feel a bit panicky not to be able to get a ring off easily.

At the beginning you want the ring to be tight enough that you need a bit of wiggling to get it off, but mot so tight you are fighting with it or need soap/ oil to get it done. That way you know it is secure. After a while I find that the tightness eases as the ring creates it's groove, it's a bit like breaking in a pair of new shoes.

UnravellingTheWorld · 26/04/2024 08:24

Mine are a nice fit. Not too tight and if I push them against my finger there is about a 2.5mm gap that forms, but it takes effort to get them past my knuckle so I don't need to worry about them falling off accidentally.

VladsPants · 26/04/2024 08:24

I had to stop wearing mine as they were too tight due to weight gain. They used to rattle against each other when we were first married! As others have said, I got panicky when they wouldn’t come off easily. I have thought about getting them resized (easier than dieting) but can’t afford it at the moment.

BeaRF75 · 26/04/2024 08:25

In cold weather, fairly loose and could be removed easily.
Fingers swell a bit in warmer weather, so tighter tho not uncomfortably so.
The point being that your fingers will vary in size!

ClonedSquare · 26/04/2024 08:32

My wedding ring is what I'd consider a perfect fit. It's loose enough that I can get it off easily, and if my fingers swell in the heat it still comes off with a bit of effort. But it doesn't swivel much and would never come off on its own. It doesn't look like it's digging in at all.

I can't bear the feeling of a ring that I can't remove easily. It makes me really anxious.

EventuallyDecluttered · 26/04/2024 08:33

Right now a little tight but can be got off by wiggling them. Later in the day they will be looser and I will be able to get them off easily but they have never come off accidentally. I am about the same weight I was when I got married and never really take them off apart from to fiddle with or clean the engagement ring.

However a few years ago I was larger and developed eczema which caused a lot of inflammation of my hands and there were a few months when I couldn't get them off for love not money (tried every trick in the book) and it made me panicky too, in fact it was what pushed me to insist on patch testing for the eczema which is now a distant memory, so it did me a favour really.

I got my engagement ring resized recently. Had worn it every day for almost 30 years and it was getting to the point where I didn't think I'd ever get it off. When I did mange to get it off I had it made 2 sizes bigger. Fits great now

TheBirdintheCave · 26/04/2024 08:37

Perfect fit. Even now at 37 weeks pregnant 😂

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 26/04/2024 08:38

Mine come off easily. I take them off multiple times per day because I don't like wearing rings when I sleep, shower, exercise or bake. The wedding ring doesn't bother me but the diamond on the engagement ring does so I usually take both off at the same time. Sometimes if I go on holiday I'll leave the engagement ring at home and just wear the wedding ring, in which case I usually leave the wedding ring on the whole time. They only feel tight if the weather is particularly hot and my hands swell up a bit.

familyissues12345 · 26/04/2024 08:39

I don't wear mine, like a pp I feel very claustrophobic and panicky if I can't get them off immediately and as they became a bit tight several years ago I haven't worn them since.

I am considering buying a nice chain so I can wear them around my neck - for now they are sat in a tin BlushGrin

NahNeedsGarlic · 26/04/2024 08:43

Mine haven’t fitted for years, and the design of both means they can’t be resized.

Delightadodo · 26/04/2024 08:45

Really loose as I’ve lost a lot of weight. Can’t afford to have them resized at the moment so have those spring ring adjusters to keep them in place. There were a few occasions when they’ve flown off my fingers when I’ve put my hand out quickly 🤦‍♀️

Savoyafternoon · 26/04/2024 08:47

I have skinny fingers with larger knuckles so to have mine fit comfortably when on they have to be a really tight squeeze over my knuckles.

LaWench · 26/04/2024 11:02

My wedding ring is loose and I can't have it resized due to the pattern of it. It's held in place by my engagement ring which fits nicely still.

Strawberrytiz · 06/05/2024 20:22

My ring is like this. When I was sized during summer it fit perfectly and I’ve just started wearing it and it feels a little loose. If I shake my hand it doesn’t come off but comes of pretty easy when I take it off. Debating if it needs resizing but it was initially resized as it was small😅

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 06/05/2024 20:32

Mine's based on Chinese Handcuffs and unfortunately no-one has showed me how to get out of them yet. 😕

GameOfJones · 06/05/2024 20:46

Mine is reasonably tight. I could get it off without too much trouble but would need soap etc to help it over my knuckle.

ArrrMeHearties · 06/05/2024 20:47

My engagement ring is slightly too big but I received my wedding ring and it is too small so need to get it resized

NewName24 · 06/05/2024 21:16

Mine are a nice fit now, because I had them enlarged a year or so ago, as my fingers have grown over the last 30 years or so.

Bella259 · 16/05/2024 12:22

My ring is a tight fit but is comfortable to wear and will come off with some soap and effort. I never see any need to take it off so it seems fine.

Would you mind saying how much this cost?

Auntieobem · 22/05/2024 20:21

Mine cost £90 to go up 2 sizes
