Earplugs

My husband snores. The only way I've been able to cope is by using boots earplugs. They were foam cylinders- not tapered. Anyway. They've only gone and done anyway with them.

Please can you hit me up with your BEST EVER EARPLUGS? preferably before I divorce him.

@ISeeTheLight it says that the mute pack is for the other loops NOT the quiet ones as I considered that when ordering them!

RandomMess · 25/04/2024 21:16

@ISeeTheLight it specifically says the mute pack adds an additional 5dB to the engage and experience. It implies they just make loop pretty!

When I gave feedback to loop that they weren't sound reducing enough they didn't suggest mute pack?

RandomMess · 25/04/2024 21:18

Definitely implies the pack just changes the colours

I swear he is actually shortening my life span. It's beyond a joke. It's serious.

Then don’t share a room. Problem solved.

I bulk buy the foam ones from Amazon, bloody love them. I squish to a point then put them in and hold them , but sort of lift my ears up at the same time (hy holding the top of my ears) as my ear canals go down, think everyone’s do, hold to the count of 60, and that’s it. No more snoring disruption,

I have Loop Quiet but I agree they don't block out as much as I'd like. I expected them to make everything REALLY quiet so a bit disappointing.

holjam · 25/04/2024 21:30

@Hoogieflip I bought the quiet ones and sleep mostly on my side, they're very comfortable and I don't feel them at all.

CheerfulBunny · 25/04/2024 21:34

I've got nice Samsung noise cancelling earbuds and play podcasts or white noise on holiday or in hotels when I can't escape OH's snoring.
I have Loops but I find I can hear my own heartbeat which makes me feel weird/ooky when I'm trying to sleep. Doesn't anyone else find this with earplugs??

RandomMess · 25/04/2024 21:34

@AlpacaWooly glad it's not just me, I was gutted. I could use them as as the "experience" type to deaden the loud sounds.

I found them comfortable and only needed the extra small/small silicone parts. I wonder if having small ear canals is why a find the foam ones painful.

HerNameIsIncontinentiaButtocks · 25/04/2024 21:41

Get him to do something about his snoring. Sleep apneoa, with long pauses followed by a huge SNOORRRRK? That wants actual doctor attention, it can be dangerous.

For simpler snoring even a simple mouthguard type thing can stop it entirely, like a snorewizard or whatever. The good ones come with a trial period.

Purpleavocado · 25/04/2024 21:44

Bioears silicone earplugs. You can shape them to fit.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 25/04/2024 21:57

Not what you asked but has he been to the GO about potential sleep apnoea? It is so dangerous.

paristotokyo · 25/04/2024 22:12

Loop quiet for me too. But I think you need to make sure you have the right size bud in (they provide a few sizes in the box) to get good noise reduction

I hear my own heartbeat too! It's bizarre

Shinyandnew1 · 25/04/2024 22:17

I thought the Loop ones were rubbish-uncomfortable and didn’t block the sound out! I use the coloured silicone ones from Amazon that look like little ridged Christmas trees-they work well.

Catsmere · 25/04/2024 22:22

I use Alpine Deep Sleep. They're reusable silicone. I presume they're available in Britain.

sh0ppingstar · 25/04/2024 22:24

The loop quiet saved my marriage. Can't help but think that the people who don't find them enough don't have them fitted optimally. I can't reliably hear my alarm through them.

RandomMess · 25/04/2024 22:51

Or maybe our hearing is more sensitive and/or lighter sleepers?

Checkandbalenance · 25/04/2024 22:56

If I was on Mastermind my special subject would be earplugs and snoring men.

BOOTS MUFFLES

These drowned out my ex husband and he sounded like a pig in a war.

Failing this, Quies are alright but there are two drawbacks; they are small and I have big ear holes so sometimes need two pairs, and more weirdly, they taste really nice if you’re a badly behaved jack russel.

space99 · 25/04/2024 22:58

Kerning · 25/04/2024 21:33

I second this. I have used so many different types of ear plugs over the years and think these are superior.

lillypie31 · 25/04/2024 23:00

I know you asked about earplugs but my dh was a snorer. Last year he bought a retainer mouthguard thing and it’s made so much difference. Worth a try? Think it was snoredoc

RandomMess · 25/04/2024 23:07

@Checkandbalenance

I can confirm both cats and dogs seem to adore used wax ear plugs regardless of brand

Bio ears. Silicone and amazing
