Does magnesium give you nightmares?

Have been struggling to stay asleep for a while - I have no problem dropping off but I’ve been consistently waking around 2-3am and just can’t get back to sleep. I read that magnesium supplements could help with sleep, but each time I’ve taken one, I’ve had horrific nightmares! Is this a known thing, or is it just me?!

I’ve recently started taking it and I sleep through the night now. No problems with nightmares yet and I’m a vivid dreamer!

I have recently started taking it and have gone from being up in the night three/ four times to once.

Yes. It sucks. Seems a crappy trade off tbh.

I get dreamy if I take it at night so I take it first thing and seem to be ok.

That’s so weird I have been taking it and only just clicked it could be related! Had the MADDEST dream this morning, not awful but one of those ones where you continuously can’t get to something important you’re late for!

No.

Im thinking I’d rather not sleep than have these awful vivid dreams 😩. Maybe if I try taking it first thing in the morning that might help- but then would it make any difference to my sleep at all?

Yes, I get horrible nightmares if I take it. I've stopped because of it.
