Bloody Ryanair and compensation !!

We were one of the unfortunate ones who had our flight cancelled during last years ATC shutdown. Ryanair couldn't source us an alternative flight apart from two days into our holiday time and at a support 150 miles away so we booked our own alternative flight and the airline are obligated to cover these costs.
When I first emailed Ryan air about rjis they totally ignored me, one month later I emailed again, again I was ignored. So I told them I would be going through the Aviation ADR, which I did. We have been awarded to the compensation to cover the flights we sourced ourselves, Ryanair accepted this, so I thought all was fine. They have marked it as paid, it can then take upto 14 working days to clear in your account, well it's now been 21 days and I still haven't had that payment !! I'm so pissed off an airline can mark something as paid and yet I'm still waiting. I'm so pissed off they can just ignore my initial emails and hope I'd just go away. £600 is fuck all to a company like that, but to a normal working family struggling to make ends meet we really need this money !

Has anyone ever dealt with anything like this ? I'm
Not sure how long the Aviation ADR give the airline to pay

Hi
The same here. Got stuck in Madeira last year. We made our way back home. The Aviation ADR ruled in my favour. 4 weeks ago Ryanair told them that the money had been paid. I've never received it. 2 deadlines now passed they are ignoring my emails just getting generic responses from their portal. I'm thinking about taking them.to Small Claims Cpurt. Im.pissed off.

Hi, what a joke !! Do you mean the adr are now ignoring your emails ?
I requested an update last Thursday and as of yet still no response...

Ryanair are complete bastards. Not only is their service utterly shite, but trying to get compensation out of them is a nightmare. They lie, obfuscate, and will do anything and everything not to pay.

I am still out of pocket by nearly a hundred quid and have been going round the houses with them for months.

They work on the basis that most people will give up.

Small Claims (which can be done online) is the only way to go, but costs money and takes time, after which you still have to go through hoops trying to get paid.

The only reason I took a Ryanair flight was because I had no other choice to get to a particular destination. BIG mistake.

Another ADR deadline has now passed. Literally I just got an update from ADR that they had chased up Ryanir and still waiting for a response. Yet 3rd deadline has been set for 15/05.
I've sent numerous emails to Ryanair and I keep getting generic responses. The portal is now mostly served by robots. It's so bloody annoying. I'm going to sent last one message to ADR. If not Small Precedure will be used.

try a Statutory Demand in the meantime:

https://www.gov.uk/statutory-demands

Might try this. Who would I post it to, Ryan air themselves or do it through the aviation adr?

@Marquis81 this is not giving me much hope ! Cannot believe they can just ignore people like this.. and I do agree with a pp who says they rely on people just giving up, which a lot will!
I sent them 3 emails from when all this happened and they didn't reply to one of them !

It's disgusting ! How they can get away with this behaviour and yet still get their flights off the ground because people still use them, just madness

On a different note the alternative flight we took was with Lufthansa, wow what a difference ! I would be happy to fly with them anytime

I know, right? Lufthansa is a world away from Ryan-bastarding-air.

mitogoshi · 01/05/2024 16:17

Lufthansa are better but annoyed me because the complimentary drinks I was offered was tea, coffee, coke or beer - I asked if I could have something without caffeine or alcohol and was told no. Apparently this isn't an issue now because they no longer offer the drinks.

You’re not surprised there was a difference..are you?

Update:
Today the money has arrived. It's taken exactly 6 weeks since I received the email from ADR that the payment was made.
I hope that the email threatening them with a court action helped but who knows.
Good luck to the rest of you and don't give up

toomanydicksonthedancefloor1 · 07/05/2024 19:13

They're terrible. Ryanair changed the time of our outgoing flight by 12 hours and gave us the option to accept the change or cancel for a refund which it says in the email would be paid within 48 hours. So we cancelled and booked a flight from a different airport using our credit card. Anyway it took them over 4 weeks to refund the money in which time we had incurred interest on our credit card having to pay out for 2 flights. They pretty much said tough luck. Fortunately for us we spoke to the credit card company to see if there was anything they could do and they froze the interest for 2 months for us. Trying to get in touch with them is pointless. Their customer service is terrible.
