Keep DD off school tomorrow?

DD5 had a really bad trip after school. Fell on some gravel, scraped her whole face, (nose, cheek, forehead) and has a massively swollen lip (literally 3x the size it should be!). She is very shaken up. She's also got what looks like the start of a black eye. I feel so sorry for her and just want to keep her home for some TLC, is that wrong? Not entirely relevant but she has ASD and doesn't have any friends/play with other kids and I'm concerned it might draw a bit of unwanted attention towards her.

I would keep her off if her attendance is otherwise good, I hope she’s ok!

FuzzyWuzzyWuzABear · 23/04/2024 22:07

Keep her home if your think she needs TLC.

But with regards to the unwanted attention, the grazes and bruise is likely to last at least a week and you can't keep her off that long!

Bless her, she's 5! It's not like she has GCSEs coming up, a day to recover with mummy will hold far more value imo.

even if her attendance is poor, I would still keep her off.

Oh poor luv! If it feel right for you both, keep her off. She’ll likely be in some discomfort tomorrow too. Wishing her a speedy recovery ❤️ xx

@FuzzyWuzzyWuzABear It's more her lip I'm worried about! She looks like a little fish from the side, or like she's had about 2mls of lip filler put only into her top lip 😅hoping it will have gone down by Thursday!

She is 5 some calpol and a duvet day sounds fine and I'm usually a go to school unless your leg is hanging off type.

RabbitsRock · 23/04/2024 22:09

Bless her, that sounds nasty. I would keep her home for a cuddly day.

Brokenbey · 23/04/2024 22:10

Thanks all! I'm going to keep her off for some well deserved snuggles x

At 5 keep her home and give cuddles, at 15 give paracetamol and send to school.

dontforgetme · 23/04/2024 22:10

I would definitely keep her off for some cuddles and movie day! Hope she's ok op.

TokyoSushi · 23/04/2024 22:12

Oh poor love, a sofa day with Calpol and cuddles is required. Hope she feels a bit better soon.

TheChosenTwo · 23/04/2024 22:12

Ouch, poor little thing!
Keep her home, she may well be in pain with the swelling anyway and she can have a nice quiet day.

Ahh bless her.

I'd keep her home then because eating lunch will be difficult, plus if her lip looks like that from the outside, it's probably very bruised inside too.

fromaytobe · 23/04/2024 22:30

She's faceplanted and hit her head so I think you would be right to keep her off.

spiderlight · 23/04/2024 22:38

Definitely keep her home, bless her. That sounds really nasty 😢

Starlightstarbright3 · 23/04/2024 22:42

Just a question - does she want the day off . I only ask as it says you want to keep her off .
if she doesn’t want to though absolutely a day of taking care is fine x

HornyHornersPinger · 24/04/2024 10:59

I'm a bit late giving a helpful reply but I'd definitely keep her off, those injuries sound like they'll be painful. Might also be worth seeing if you can get an appt with the practice nurse at your GP surgery to make sure all the scrapes are clean so they'll heal properly seeing as it's her face x

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 24/04/2024 11:03

Poor little thing i hope she's ok.
My daughter fell in the playground last summer and grazed the whole left side of her face so i know what a worry it can be.
Lots of cuddles.
