Best socks for long distance walking

I'm doing a marathon distance walk for charity in the summer. I'm wearing my running trainers rather than walking boots because they are comfiest for me.

Does anyone have any recommendations for good walking socks? Ideally trainer style (low cut).

You can't do a long distance walk in trainer socks! For a start, you're more at risk of bites and ticks on your ankles and legs.

Sorry should have said it's on pathways, it's not rural. The long training walks I've done I've just worn the socks I run in but wondered if there was something thicker for walking. Thank you

It kind of depends how much room you have in your shoes? One pair of my trainers I can fit Runderwear's double layer socks in (wide toe box), the other I can't. I usually train in Injinji toe socks for shorter distances because my physio said to!

I'd be careful with really low cut ones for long distances because if they start slipping even a tiny bit you'll be in blister city before the first water station!
