Come and talk to me!
I had a consultation today and I'm feeling overwhelmed with info and scared

This is the plan

MRI
Further consult
Multi disciplinary meeting with bowel surgeon
Menopause with medication for 3 months before
Excision surgery

I'm worried about the menopause and how long recovery from the op will be if anyone has been through this

I have endometriosis.

I have had one laparoscopy (key hole) and one laparotomy (big incision)

Both were day cases. I was off for about a week. Both made a substantial difference to the pain.

I also had quite a lot on my bowels.

Oh that's not as bad as I thought, I don't get much sick pay but could manage a week

I had laparoscopy and laser treatment about 15 years ago. I was off work about 10 days and again it was a day case. No MRI
Or anything. Thankfully now I am now post menopausal so am symptom free.
Hope your procedure goes well Flowers

I have it but it presents as chocolate cysts on my ovaries. I’ve had laparoscopic removal and had 2 weeks off (one week was planned holiday anyway). I now have a 9cm cyst which I’m on the waiting list for urgent surgery to remove.

I've got those, 2 of the damn things
Kissing ovaries
They think bowel and bladder involvement

I have it - I had a laparotomy (couple of days in hospital and was signed off work for 6 weeks afterwards) and the zoladex injections afterwards hoping it would suppress growth prior to ivf. They couldn’t remove a lot of it so I do still suffer with it but the operation helped massively with the pain. You’ll be fine x

Did you have many side effects with the injections?

Just very hot flushes, I remember the needle being quite big so sorry if that’s something that might frighten you. It was no more painful than any other injection, just a long needle. I had no other side effects than the hot flushes though x

pelotonaddiction · 23/04/2024 19:44

I'm ok with needles as I already inject myself weekly! After the MRI he said they will have a better idea of how far it has spread

You’ll be fine then op, I was just a bit surprised at the size of the needle but if you’re fine with injections it’s all good. Try not to worry, you have a plan in place and will be in good hands! X
