When to accept an offer?

My daughter has 2 offers from 2 unis. When is the deadline for accepting one? Do you turn down the other? Do you accept both?

Please help. I'm confused

Congratulations to your DD! I'm sure you're all chuffed to bits!
Wouldn't she accept the offer from her preferred university ASAP by return post/email? Back in my day, the university sent you the 'thick' letter with all the forms to complete and sign. So an email offer would have lots of attachments to complete. (The 'thin' letter was a rejection on a single piece of paper: thank you for applying ... don't call us ...)

If she definitely doesn't want one of them it would be polite to decline so they can offer the place to some other (desperate) soul.

Surely it says somewhere on the offer what the acceptance deadline is? So maybe read the email/letter more carefully or if that doesn't work, go on the websites for the universities. So if they are both 'reserve' choices you may not need to do anything for a bit.

Did she apply to the maximum of five unis? If so, is she still waiting to hear from any others? I do know when you accept, you put down a firm choice (ie first choice if you get grades) and then an insurance choice (requiring lower grades in case they don't get their firm).

DD applied a few years ago now, and she was totally aware of when everything had to be done, how and when. Your DD probably knows, but hasn't made that clear to you. If there's any doubt, can she doublecheck the process or you can post in Further or Higher Education sections on here.
