Message for new baby

BlueBlahBlah · 23/04/2024 16:07

Tried posting in a baby thread but it was a quieter one so no replies. Posting on here due to more traffic.

i have been asked to send a message to a new baby (not yet born) to be collated and put into a book or something - like a welcome to the world type thing, or some kind of inspirational quote. It’s for a friends first baby. Any suggestions? TIA

Welcome to the world baby (surname)!

I can't wait to meet you and watch you grow. Looking forward to lots of snuggles when you arrive!

Love Aunty BlueBlahBlah

I really struggle with writing this kind of thing and I have found ChatGPT to be a godsend, at least to get me started off and then I can edit and personalise it. It suggested:

Dear little one,
As you prepare to make your grand entrance into this beautiful world, know that you are already surrounded by love and anticipation. You are about to embark on a remarkable journey filled with adventures, discoveries, and endless possibilities.
May your laughter be contagious, your curiosity insatiable, and your dreams boundless. May you always be guided by kindness, empathy, and courage as you navigate the twists and turns of life's path.
Remember, you are a beacon of hope, a bundle of joy, and a gift to us all. Your presence enriches our lives in ways we never imagined, and your future holds the promise of greatness.
Welcome to this incredible adventure called life. May it be filled with wonder, love, and countless blessings.
With all my love,
[Your Name]

Now this is a bit sickly and may be totally over the top for you but perhaps it will give you an idea of what you'd like to say? If you do ChatGPT yourself you can refine it by saying something like "make this 50% shorter" or "make this funnier" or "write this in a poem that rhymes" or "write this from an auntie" etc.

Good luck baby, it's a shit show.

Seriously I'd probably be short and to the point like @cheeseandketchupsandwich suggests.

Or a song lyric. 'How wonderful life is now you're in the world'. I used to sing 'cant take my eyes of of you' to my little one and love the line: at long last love has arrived, and I thank god I'm alive. You're just too good to be true, I can't take my eyes off of you.

You might find something appropriate in some of your favourite songs to make it personal.
