Lloyd Bank benefit selection (magazine subscription or Disney+))

Does anyone else have this?

I did the cinema tickets last year but gave them away as my nearest Vue is too far away.

So this year I'm between the Disney+ or Magazine subscription.

Magazine: haven't read one in years, but fancy the idea of chilling out in summer with an old fadionef physical Magazine! Not keen on options though, probably Cosmo, Red, Primo or God forbid Good Houskeeping! (It was J17 last time I nought magazines 😆). Would have like a history or current affairs option but there aren't any.

Disney + I don't have kids. Is it worth it for adults? Anything on there that Netflix wouldn't fill the gap?

Hmmmmm...

Disney do a lot of programmes for adults, but I like the option of something screen-free. Any hobbyist mags on the list?

jobsjkfo · 23/04/2024 10:27

There's loads on Disney even if you don't have kids. And you can easily get digital magazines or free via a library app (or get them cheap in sign up deals) so Disney is def the better value I think!

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 23/04/2024 10:28

Disney is value wise is worth a lot more.

fieldsofbutterflies · 23/04/2024 10:28

Definitely Disney. There's loads of adult shows and movies on there.

Iliketulips · 23/04/2024 10:34

We receive this benefit. You used to be able to get six cineworld vouchers a year, which was perfect for us. Not sure we'd used the Disney one much either, the Gourmet ones, places we'd go to, we can do on Tescos Clubcard. Unfortunately, no Vue for miles.

Since then we've had magazines, but find we're not really reading them - funnily enough the one we looked at the most was Landscape out of Landscape, Good Housekeeping (I look at not DH), Birds and Country Living.

It's a shame as in theory it's a nice idea.

EarthlyNightshade · 23/04/2024 10:37

Disney for sure!
There are loads of great series - Only murders, Fleishmann is in trouble, The Bear, Wrexham, Modern Family to name but a few.
And lots of films as well.

I get the magazine (good housekeeping - I give them away without reading them more often than not) because my Disney autorenewed before I remembered to cancel it. I'll def do Disney next year though.

Lazykitten · 23/04/2024 12:26

Oh is welcome to Wrexham on Disney? That might swing it!

Yes the Gourmet club looks a bit rubbish and I'd end up giving the cinema tickets away again. Would be great if it was for my local one but sadly not

I have odeon cinema tickets.

I would have the Disney subscription - there's loads of great stuff on there. Enjoy 🙂

nomorespaghetti · 23/04/2024 12:32

We got the gourmet society one last year and didn’t use it once! Disney+ this year. We do have kids, but there’s loads for adults. DH and I watch it more than the kids. Would recommend Under the Banner of Heaven, Dopesick, and The Dropout, all great

katiemarnie · 23/04/2024 12:56

We chose Disney - have watched a few different things. My husband liked The Bear.

CardigansAndCoffee · 23/04/2024 13:03

I had the Roku movies offer last year and got put on Disney+ this year. I already had a D+ subscription but was able to transfer it to the bank freebie, so that worked out well. Just meant I went from paying for it to not paying for it. There are quite a few good shows on there.

CardigansAndCoffee · 23/04/2024 13:04

Not Roku, Rakuten

Precipice · 23/04/2024 13:05

I wouldn't use either.

SilverSimca · 23/04/2024 13:08

I really like Reservation Dogs on Disney. Also Only Murders, The Bear, Artful Dodger.

EventuallyDecluttered · 23/04/2024 13:40

We use the cinema tickets but if not it would definitely be Disney+ as we already have it and it is well used (all adult household). Magazines just wouldn't get read.

1984Winston · 23/04/2024 13:58

We get the free Disney although we rarely use it, magazines are no use to me as I get them free anyway through my job

mynameiscalypso · 23/04/2024 14:00

I get Women's Health magazine which I would probably read anyway. We have Disney as well but get it on a deal through something else. We only ever use it to watch Bluey though!

Alovleyjacket · 23/04/2024 14:10

Had magazine last time - we didn't read them - have had Disney for 6 months, hardly watched it - don't watch films, hate US drama - just nothing there - why the heck they cant just pay interest instead of these silly gimmicks - I would like a grown up bank that does not treat me like a child !

BetterBlues · 23/04/2024 16:32

I have this too. In the last I've had the Gormet membership, and the movie downloads - neither of which were used much. I did like the cinema tickets which we had for a few years but when they introduced Disney+ it was a no brainer to switch - we do have kids but I think use it more than them? I like all the Marvel stuff as well as various movies and old series like Buddy.

Partyowl21 · 23/04/2024 20:48

Would go for the Disney we got the magazine option after an hour it's read. TV lasts a lot longer
