Stupidest ever label?

Seen on a battery operated bedside lamp in Smyths toy shop. I asked the staff who said the security label has metal in it so they have to warn customers not to microwave the label.

But they don't have to warn customers not to microwave the light and batteries. It's fine to microwave those so long as you take the security label off first.

I actually wasted way too much time puzzling over why you would put the light in the microwave

I think it’s a just a bog standard mass-manufactured security label not specific to electrical goods: I’ve seen the same one on meat and fish in the supermarket. So yes, it looks a bit daft, but it’s not specific to the lamp and the staff aren’t quite correct about why it’s there.

Ah. Yes I see the issue as now it looks like it's ok to microwave the item once you've taken the label off

Yes. I wasted a lot of time wondering why I should put the light in the microwave.

I guess the label on food that you might actually cook in the microwave makes more sense.
