Huw Edwards has finally resigned from the BBC citing medical advice….

Thinking this could be a cover up for the BBC given that they would have had to publish his salary in July given that he received full pay during his suspension since July 2023.

It is a shame as he was a real good broadcaster but I don’t condone what he did.

Excellent article here, explaining producing, making, distributing etc, and why you are ‘strictly liable’ whether you know what the material is or not.

What does your instinct tell you? No one ever believes they will get caught.

To be fair, they may not realise they are culpable for a crime.

But they absolutely could be at any moment, like the rugby guy in the article.

Days of passing Razzle around at work are over. These people know what they are looking at and sharing. Ignorance is not a defence.

Looks like some of these pictures were of very young children. It is sickening. The man who sent them to him only got a 12 month suspended prison sentence too!!

@GoogleWhacking this is totally standard, and the bigger surprise is that he got an suspended sentence at all and not a community order.

He's pleaded guilty. Trial in Sept. I think we need to know who the other guy was and why was he sending these kind of images to Huw? How did they meet? Etc etc I guess we'll learn more in September.

Sentencing in September, not trial. He's pleaded guilty. His lawyer has presented all the facts that might mean he is less guilty than more guilty, ie he didn't store or forward any of the images / mental health etc. - stuff that might affect his sentence.

I do wonder if he's been set up.... he did say he didn't want any more illegal images sent to him. Not saying he's innocent, he could've nipped this in the bud straight away and possibly saved more children from this horrendous world.

How did 'being set up' prevent him for reporting the sexual abuse of children who might be identifiable from the images?

How did 'being set up' prevent him from blocking the guy concerned and stopping contact with him? (He was in touch for some time afterwards).

He had every opportunity to do something.

@RedToothBrush I agree he should've gone straight to the police in the first place. Wonder of he was being blackmailed....
