Please can I have your gift ideas for a 4 year old. We like eco, sustainable, educational or outdoor type gifts. No tat.

Budget is £10-20

For a girl if that makes a difference but not sure it does!

The party is on Sunday so I have left it a bit last minute admittedly.

Book/books/book token

A butterfly garden or worm farm kit.

Binoculars or magnifying glass.

Kids science experiment kit.

DD is 5 and has been loving all of the above for a while.

To avoid the tat risk and "having too much stuff" vibes you often find with kids birthdays I'd go for something consumable, in the sense that it will be used up and then be gone. Like paints, or pavement chalks, or playdoh (you can get the eco-sort rather than branded).

A nice set of the fancy scented "sensory dough" you find on etsy would make a nice present.

The book "you choose" is really good imo, there's also "you choose in space" or "you choose fairy tales" if you know their interests

Or a seed + pot set would be good at this time of year

The Carnival of the Animals book (Story Orchestra)

@SquigglePigs Those are good ideas. Binoculars were the first thing I thought of.

@givemushypeasachance I like the idea of something sensory from Etsy. My child is a bit older and I don't remember what they played with at that age!

seed pot is a nice idea @SomeBollocks

@BlueChampagne Happy to buy a book but not sure what to buy for a 4 y o

@Snowpaw l'll look this up. I've heard of it before.

You could buy an illustrated hard back version of a classic, such as Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, The Wind in the Willows etc. The Carnival of the Animals (with CD) is a great shout too.

Otherwise Katie Morag was popular with DD around that age, also Winnie the Witch.

My go to gift for a three year old which might work for a four year old is a metre of fabric and a metre of ribbon. It can keep them busy for hours. And it will be all imagination play.

Otherwise 1.5 metres of fuzzy fabric to make a blanket of her very own. Bonus points if it has Barbie, dogs, horses, Elsa etc on it.

My son absolutely loved and still loves marble run.
But the bigger one, where you have more options to build your own obstacles.

Just realised we had one of the You Choose books from the library

Thanks for all the great ideas
