Where do you buy your cars?

For most of my driving life, I bought my cars (used) from a great local dealer. Knew my family and never once sold me a dud. Unfortunately they went out of business during lockdown (after 30+ years! 😭) and now I need a new (er) car and I'm wondering where people normally buy their cars? A main, national dealer? Local independent? Car supermarket?

I've tried a couple of national dealers this week and they all seemed ultra pushy to get me on to a PCP deal. I've got a decent enough budget of 13k but I don't want PCP/HP.

Just curious as to whether people tend to stick to the same dealers or do you mix it up?

I'm prepared to pay a bit extra to go to a main dealer.

Peace of mind that the car is sound, serviced, warranty and I'm not being ripped off.

Got mine (used) from a main dealer. Had the budget to buy outright but there was an offer that if you bought on finance there was free servicing and warranty for 2 years. Bought it on finance which I then cancelled and paid off once the car was in my possession (within the cooling off period).

We buy new but order on-line through one of these companies that buy from whatever dealer (national) gives the best price. Not existing stock, we order whatever spec, colour, extras etc we want.
Means we often have to travel to pick up the car but then take it to the local dealer for servicing and/or warranty work.
