Would this put you off a second date?

Went on a first date last night. For the most part, I really enjoyed it. Apart from one thing. He got my name wrong twice! I corrected him and he called me the same wrong name again. Would this put you off?

Er, yes, it would put anyone off surely? Did he apologise/explain he has memory issues? Or was it simply a case of shit, sorry, third date this week!

MagicLemon · 20/04/2024 16:33

Yes

Hellohihola · 20/04/2024 16:34

Was it a totally different name to yours or a name that sounded like it could be similar??

Chocbuttonsandredwine · 20/04/2024 16:35

Possibly yes. However I have done this many times, even in interviews. It’s almost like a mental block.

was it a similar name or that of his ex wife? 😂

Weighnow · 20/04/2024 16:35

It probably does mean he's dating lots of people, but that allowed at this stage. You wouldn't want someone who can't get a date...

I'd hope he was at least embarrassed and apologetic though.

Howbizarre22 · 20/04/2024 16:35

No, it could be nerves, first dates are awful. Give him chance but if it continues that’s different

Or wife. Not ex.

skipit8103 · 20/04/2024 16:36

how wrong?
unusual pronounce ?

MassiveOvaryaction · 20/04/2024 16:37

I think I'd need to ask him who "not my name" is. If I liked him and felt some kind of connection I'd probably give it another date, but if he got it wrong then that would be it.

LemonyFace · 20/04/2024 16:38

What did he say when you corrected him?

PotatoPudding · 20/04/2024 16:39

Was it a case of calling you Serina when your name is Selina, or was it like calling you Amanda when your name is Betty?

How you met is also probably pertinent. If you’ve been communicating electronically, it means you’re not the only one and he’s confusing his dates.

This. How did he respond?

Yozzer87 · 20/04/2024 16:46

Yes it would put me off. I'd assume he wasn't really that impressed by me that he kept forgetting my name.

Or wife. Not ex.

Or his mum 😂

Or his mum 😂

☺️ Or dog even.

EatCrow · 20/04/2024 16:55

No disrespect to you OP, just joshing.
