I would wear it with black trousers with a black top underneath.

Definitely.

Absolutely fine

Crunchymum · 19/04/2024 12:49

Is there anyone in the funeral you can check with?

Would have been fine with us for my mum's funeral but people can get "funny" about stuff like this and want all black (or worse still 'not black') so I'd personally check with someone more closely involved?

** Obviously you don't need to be asking the most closely bereaved, I just mean maybe check with other people you know who are attending.

Take a black pashmina with you - then if everyone else is in heavy black you can wrap it over the jacket.

There is no one I’m close enough to to ask. The deceased is a former work colleague of my DH.

Pashmina is a good idea.

It’s lovely. Very smart.
As someone who has recently organized a funeral, I would say dress smartly and be respectful (you are) and if anyone nit picks at you for any reason their priorities are wrong given the sad circumstances. Provided you are not wearing anything attention seeking, they should be grateful for your presence.

CHEESEY13 · 19/04/2024 15:12

Fine. It's got a Chanel look about it so it's classy, understated and perfectly OK for the occasion.

Nameymcnameface1 · 19/04/2024 15:25

I actually don't think colour or style matters for a funeral, as long as you aren't wearing anything revealing and I would stick to smart office type wear. No one is actually looking at what anyone is wearing unless it could be offensive ie boobs or legs on show

It’s fine, very smart.
