Thread Killer

Do you think it's polite if you kill a thread to apologize for it?

I seem to kill threads often.

When I first joined mumsnet years ago I remember it being more ranging and people popping in with things from left field.

I wonder if the etiquette is now to stay on topic and not wander in like an old hippy wearing a big purple hat and singing tunelesy.

"I wonder if the etiquette is now to stay on topic "

The etiquette has always been stay on topic.

It seems quite common nowadays to see people responding to a reply and not the OP's question which then derails the thread.

"Do you think it's polite if you kill a thread to apologize for it?"

I'd say yes, if you realised you've derailed/killed the thread then apologise and answer the the OP's question.
