More reasons to boycott nestle, I thought their formula milk practices were old news but they still commiting these kinds of acts.

It’s done because water with a bit of sugar is a good home remedy for pernicious diarrhoea which is common in poorer countries due to unreliable water supply. It helps prevent infant deaths.

It’s especially needed in lactose free infant formulas because many ethnicities cannot digest lactose (natural sugar found in milk). So some sugar is added that they can digest.
