Day to myself, which would you do?

I've got Saturday to myself (only day I don't work, so want to enjoy). Trying to decide what to do (DH will have car). Which would you do:

Go into town on bus, have a potter around (although don't need to buy anything) and go somewhere I enjoy for lunch.

Walk to local character pub at lunchtime - don't know how they do it but they do some delicious toasted sandwiches, staff always very friendly with everyone so nice atmosphere.

Cycle to local garden centre - takes about 20 mins, mostly on quiet roads/fields and last bit has a cycle path. I'd probably go in morning for coffee and cake. My tomato plants haven't been too successful so could buy some and bring back (I can pack upright in my backpack), as well as having a potter around.

Cycle!
Although if it was me, I'd probably hide under a duvet for the day and relish in not having to make small child conversation.

Garden centre would be my choice, unless you've got a good book on the go. Then I'd take it with me to the pub.

I’d do the first one!

cardibach · 18/04/2024 11:30

Does the garden centre also do lunch? If so I’d cycle there for that and a little potter there. Cake still for pudding, obvs.

2 or 3 for me.

If you could rope in a friend, definitely 2.

What’s the weather looking like where you are? Could you buy tomato plants in town?

I’d probably do option two (don’t have a bike) and take a book with me that I’ve been meaning to read for ages.

If it was me I would probably spend all day in the garden - but if you wanted to be out - definitely garden centre and cake.

DataColour · 18/04/2024 11:35

Cycle and garden centre, although I'd go for lunch there, plus cake.

same boat, say to me on Saturday - thinking about going to see the Ay Winehouse movie but will most likely plonk myself in front of the tv & end up with the day wasted

I'm not overly fussed about what the garden centre does for lunch, but more than happy with their cakes! Luckily I'm more than happy on my own wherever I go.

I hadn't thought of a movie, but would probably rule that out as I want to watch a sport I enjoy mid afternoon. Then DH and some friends are all arriving around 6pm - DH organised and I've already told him it'll be a takeaway which no one will mind.
